Fireside Terminal

A crackling holiday fireplace for your TV, rendered entirely in living ASCII art — like a fireplace channel broadcast from 1986. Every flame is computed in real time by a heat-diffusion fire simulation; thirty-two public-domain Christmas carols are performed on an emulated 8-bit sound chip. The fire never repeats.

Colorful River is an independent software studio — the publisher of Fireside Terminal. We like software that feels handmade: simulations instead of video files, synthesizers instead of recordings, and apps that respect your privacy: no ads, no analytics, no tracking. Our current focus is bringing Fireside Terminal to every TV platform with a store.
