Fireside Terminal
A crackling holiday fireplace for your TV, rendered entirely in living ASCII art — like a fireplace channel broadcast from 1986. Every flame is computed in real time by a heat-diffusion fire simulation; thirty-two public-domain Christmas carols are performed live on an emulated 8-bit sound chip. The fire never repeats, and the whole app runs completely offline.

Colorful River is an independent software studio — the publisher of Fireside Terminal. We like software that feels handmade: simulations instead of video files, synthesizers instead of recordings, and apps that respect your privacy by never phoning home. Our current focus is bringing Fireside Terminal to every TV platform with a store.
